(Senior) Tooling Expert (Location: Suzhou)
Short description: The (Senior) Tooling Expert is responsible for managing tooling suppliers (metal forming tools) from a technical perspective. The role will be placed on the supplier site, working hand in hand with the toolmaker and act as an interface to the in house project team. The role will report to the Purchasing Director.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
1.Responsible for technical related communication and topics on site of the tooling supplier (progressive tools, transfer tools, tools for stamping/bending of metals)
2.Feasible support of tooling suppliers for constructive solutions and changes under consideration of company standards, and functional, material, production technical and economic aspects
3.Review and release of each tooling milestone (strip layout, design, machining, tryout, buy-off, transport) in agreement with the tooling project manager
4.Calculation of strength, life time, wear, dimensioning and weight of mechanical components
5.Project tracking (milestone-related time line check) and trouble shouting
6.Development and customization of technical schedules and related reports
7.Project documentation and data maintenance
8.Cooperation and communication with cross-functional departments
9.Project-related communication with suppliers after arrangement with the tooling project manager
10.Constructive support of try-outs, series ramp-ups and series production
11.Continuous tooling supplier development including implementation and updating of company standards
We Expect:
1.Mechanical engineer or technician
2.Several years experience in the Chinese tooling market and good knowledge of progressive and transfer tool design (stamping/ press/ bending/ punching/ casting tools etc.) as well as machining, assembly and tryout until series production
3.Fluent Chinese language skills, good knowledge of English is strongly desired
4.Familiar with all design procedures (CAD etc.)
5.Excellent knowledge of Chinese and foreign tooling standards
6.Software knowledge of 2D/3D CAD systems; MS Office and design-related software
7.Good technical negotiation skills with consideration of all tooling-related aspects
8.Able to evaluate tool and single component dimensions and costs, time line
